All my life I loved being outdoors, being in the sunshine, and playing in the dirt. I always preferred to be outside rather than being stuck inside starring blankly at the television or playing video games like other kids did -- I wanted to be out there doing something. My love and caring for the well being of the environment grew from my adventurous childhood. So, when I became old enough to understand what was going on in the world and how people were doing harm to the environment, I knew I wanted to be the person to help fix the ongoing problems. For me, I believe that most of the humanities biggest issue is that we have such a dependency on oil. So for my career I want to help create a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel. After much research the mechanical engineering program at ASU, with a basis in energy and environment, was the best fit for me.
That's an awesome story to start! Is there a specific memory outside that you base this all around or is this a collaboration of memories that you dont want to loose? I ask this just because I had trouble picking one defining event myself. The paper seems to be more focused on a key event to relate to, a "click" moment if you will when you knew this was it. If this didnt come until the research then so be it. Maybe a documentary that you saw that showed you how things were being destroyed where you said "i want to fix that because it shouldnt be happening" I think if your narrative was set up with some anecdotes effectively and then talk about the "click" moment effectively you should be able to focus your narrative very well! good job
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good topic especially related toward your major with regards to the environment. You topic is also pretty thought out and already organized. I like how you almost grew into the person you are now with the passion for the environment. All in all this is a terrific topic and will hopefully lead to a fantastic paper.
ReplyDeleteYou gave some really good insight on what drove you to wanting to pursue mechanical engineering. It is obvious that your love for the environment and all parts of nature helped you choose your major. I think the best way to go about this for you would be if you could find one time or one event where you decided that you wanted to help the environment. If there are multiple it would be a good idea to choose the one you remember best, or the one you could connect with others the best with. You defiantly have a great start and I look forward to your paper if I have the privilege to read it.
